LATIN JOE PROFILE

Early Life and Artistic Beginnings. Andres L. Nieves, widely recognized as Latin Joe, was born in Puerto Rico, where his passion for the arts began at a very young age. Throughout his life, he demonstrated remarkable creativity and artistic talent in many different forms.

Friends and colleagues in New York City often referred to him as AL Nieves, while many others affectionately called him Latin Joe. Close friends and family also knew him as “Andy.”

From childhood onward, Latin Joe was constantly writing songs and developing ideas for stories, performances, and visual art. His imagination and artistic drive would later become the foundation for a long and diverse creative career.

The 1960s – The Young Magician and Performer

During the 1960s, while still living in Puerto Rico, Latin Joe worked professionally as a magician and entertainer.

The Great Magician

He performed in circuses, theaters, fairs, and television programs across the island, captivating audiences with his charisma, stage presence, and creativity. These early experiences in live entertainment helped shape his confidence as a performer and storyteller.

Education in Art and Design

After graduating from academic school in Puerto Rico, Latin Joe pursued formal artistic training at the renowned Miguel Such Vocational School in San Juan, Puerto Rico. There, he studied Art and Commercial Design, refining his skills as an illustrator, oil painter Artist, and graphic artist.
